Back in Hong Kong
We have now been back in Hong Kong for over a month, while I really enjoyed Malaysia, it is also good to be back in Hong Kong. Though life here has been more difficult than say Macau or Guangzhou, I have always loved HK since I was first indirectly invited to come here on a missions trip back in 2008 by an old classmate during a nightly Bible class. It was a place that for many a years I prayed and made huge sacrifices to live. It just was not in God’s timing back then. I love the city and it will always have a special place in my heart. This is a place where I heard very clearly from the Lord on different expectations or details about my future. I pray that the Lord will forever stay with this amazing city and help it to overcome its challenges.

I took these pictures a couple weeks ago, it was my first class beginning level 2 in Cantonese. While my Putonghua (Mandarin) is pretty useful, I really want to learn/ be more part of the local community. HK has finally given me a space to feel like I’m part of society, even our youngest son was granted PR status just by being born here. I have always said that Hong Kong/ HKers don’t often care where you are from, all they care about is what can you do for the community/ society and how much you love HK. I pray that the Lord will help me become fluent in Cantonese because it was a language that I fell in love with ever since first coming here. I had just never really been given the opportunity to learn Cantonese in the same way I was with studying Putonghua, until now that is. If you are interested in learning Cantonese and you are here in HK, why not check out some continuing education classes at the YMCA in TST. Our classes are every Thursday from 19-21:00, I will be heading there in a few hours for my second class in level 2. I am not a beginner in Cantonese, I probably should have skipped to level 2 in the very beginning, but I had really enjoyed meeting the classmates that I had in level 1.

One day when I was scrolling on IG, I saw that Adidas has this really cool DIY shirt design going on at the moment. They have lots of different iron on patches and vinyl patches that can be ironed onto your shirt. Though I do not have almost any Adidas clothing nowadays, I can remember one of my favorite jackets back when I was in high school was Adidas. It was a light weight jacket that was given to me when I joined our high school soccer team. Unfortunately we had to give that jacket back to the school once we graduated, but I can remember really being proud of wearing that jacket. Several years later I had found one almost identical but it was in green, instead of blue. So I have for a long time had an affinity toward Adidas. Shortly after coming back to Hong Kong, my oldest son Noah and I went down to

Then one last thing that I would like to share concerning our summer was that we attended the Book Festival here in Hong Kong. I had wanted to go to it for a long time, but it was just never in the cards. The boys and I found some really cool books that I will now be trying to get through. I found a book on Macau history, the history of Hong Kong and an Anglican history in Hong Kong. So I am especially looking forward to finish reading all three of them. Well, this post is getting a little long. I just wanted to provide you all an update of whats been going on. God bless you all!
