Apparently Family Mart has taken over Shanghai! Similar to 7eleven in Hong Kong, Family Mart has a store on every block it seems! I had heard some of my friends who teach in South Korea mention this convenience store, so I had always thought it was a Korean store. Well out of curiosity, I went to Wikipedia and found out its a Japanese company! Either way I really really like Family Mart, because of its convenience and cheap food! If I wake up a little later than expected and cannot make it to the canteen for breakfast, I will grab some kind of steamed bun for breakfast and an orange juice. Just on the Fudan University campus there are three or four.
