I know I took this a while back. But I submitted it to the Tech Guy’s group on Flickr for this week’s assignment. We have to illustrate the word “Call”. I am actually thinking about a picture I can take but I think I need to finish it before the end of the week. I’ve just been so busy I haven’t been able to find a good shot for this assignment. But they said it was ok to use previous shots. If you want to join the Tech Guy group on Flickr just search for with the groups taps. And be sure to check out Leo Laporte: The Tech Guy on Leoville

•April 9, 2008 • 2 CommentsI can’t begin to tell you how many different web browsers I’ve tried. But I’ve narrowed it down to two different browsers on the MAC OS X platform. Safari or Firefox. *Safari on the Windows side still seems a little clunky*. But the last several months I’ve gone through different time periods of switching back and forth between Safari and Firefox. I love the themes of Firefox and add-ons, but Safari is perfect for photos. Safari does have some plugins but no where close to the plugins Firefox has.
Ok Well as I mentioned before I am a photographer and color representation is really important to me. I mean I ain’t one of those people that color calibrates their monitors or anything. But I do want a pretty accurate picture. The Mac has something that Windows doesn’t have at all, at least to my knowledge. Color Profiles. Since this feature is built in to any OS X platform Safari takes advantage of this. Which means that Safari can render pictures with more accurate color than other browsers. The pictures may look different with other browsers. Plus I think Safari does an excellant job at rendering the pages and it loads in my experience pretty fast.
But why have I chosen to stick with Firefox? Well I miss the adds like NoScript (a must have on any platform to protect yourself), the different Ubuntu Themes I had for Firefox, and some other off the wall plug-ins. Plus recently the Mac was hacked via Safari with some sort of Trojan. It is not a wild virus, which means this hack is supposed to be under wraps. But I ain’t risking it. It seems to me Firefox has a better chance of staying more secure than some browsers because it’s OpenSource. Which means when theres a problem anyone can fix it. Also I think the fix turn around are patched quicker than Safari. This is just purely speculation though. But when I need accuracy on my photos I’ll still be using Safari! 🙂
If your on Windows I think Firefox and IE 7 is an excellant choice. NOT IE 6 or below. But IE 7 seems to be on top of the game. But I still use both on my Windows machine. YES UNFORTUNATELY I have a Windows machine lol! But it soon might be a Ubuntu machine if I can get my little WIFI USB card working with Ubuntu 🙂

Photoshop Express
•April 7, 2008 • Leave a Commentwow, this is truly a great work of Web 2.0 I’ve heard a lot of people say that this is lame and it’s nothing like photoshop elements or photoshop CS3. Well yes I definitely agree with them in it’s not as advance as the rest of their line, but thats not the real issue. We’re getting into an exciting era within the web community! It’s not to see if it’s just like Photoshop CS3 I think the impressive thing is that their able to offer this program via the internet! I mean it’s talking over a decade to reach this point of utilizing the internet in this brand new way! The Internet is finally becoming a place where we can come together and not only have the world at our fingertips, but we can get things done.
Well this program is limited to only the basics of photo editing. Red Eye Reducer, Color Correction, Contrast, etc. So it’s really interesting to see where their going and it’ll be even more impressive to see where they will be in 5 years! Here’s the link, so check it out. Photoshop Express Or you can check out more detailed info at Wikipedia Entry

iMovie Blues
•March 31, 2008 • 2 Commentswell first off I usually don’t write blog posts over the weekend, but this has just totally puzzled me. Sorry for the long update also, school has been a killer lol! so anyways anyone who has been using iMovie will probably know that in the older iMovie the Chapters button was in iMovie and then you could send it to iDVD. Well not anymore, in order to make chapters for your DVDs you must send it first to Garageband! Who would of ever thought of that. And I’ve been having problems with my DVDs dropping frames. I think this is because of Garageband exporting the video to iDVD. Garageband is for audio not video, so I’m praying that Apple will place this feature back into iMovie either in an update or the next version.
you know this seems to me like Apple forgot to put this feature in iMovie and they just threw it into some other program that they weren’t finished developing yet. what do you all think? I’m including a link of how to do chapters for video within iLife 08.

Using Office 2007 with WordPress
•March 29, 2008 • Leave a CommentWow, well I’ve never done this before. But I do like the idea. Office 2007 has embedded a new feature that will send blog entries to your website! I have to admit Microsoft finally did something that I like, and that’s Office 2007. It’s one of the only reason’s I still own a PC (the other reason is PhotoDraw V2 which Microsoft discontinued). The only thing I’m concerned is how Word formats the text and then the keywords. I don’t see a keywords button in Word 2007. So I might not be able to use Word… Because as you all know adding Keywords to your entries are a necessity. It would amaze me if Microsoft didn’t add this feature in the program. I’ll let you know when I get to play with this program a little more!
Belkin Tech Support Sucks
•March 22, 2008 • 7 Commentsok well I previously owned a Linksys Wireless G Router and I would still own it if it wasn’t for my cats. Long story short my cats destroyed my wifi router. So anyways at BestBuy they had a Belkin N router for $69.99. Well considering what they cost when they first came out I was like “HECK YA”. So anyways I purchase the Belkin F5D8233-4 and tried setting it up. Well first off I own a Macbook running the latest version of Tiger and a Windows Desktop running XP Pro fully patched. But I plugged in my macbook via ethernet and ran the installer disk. Well guess what it wouldn’t even run. It seems to me a very poorly written installer (I’m not sure about the windows side). But anyways I decided to do it manually because after I did get the installer to run it was too limited for me to fix it. So I changed it to a dynamic setting and all the other bells and whistles. Well now instead of getting the 300mbps I am getting an average of 130mbps! I called Belkin and I spoke with several different guys all of which told me completely different options to try. One told me to change my encryption to WEP (I had it set for WPA and I think thats a given why), another told me to disable the firewall on the router (what good is that in the long run? then I’m not protected) and then finally they told me to change the channels and I ended up with an even worse connection. So I hate to say it but I don’t think Belkin tech support is any good.
Leopard Issues :(
•March 18, 2008 • Leave a CommentWell I hate to say but I switched back to Mac OS X Tiger yesterday. I’ve been working on some videos for some clients and I could not get the rendering process to work properly on Leopard. It was dropping frames left and right. Plus I still have several apps that will not run under Leopard. 😦 I love some of the features but then there are just some gay things that haven’t been working for me properly, especially programs that utilize the internet. My Apple Mail app crashes almost once a day as well as Safari. And last but not least my Google Desktop app will not run at all. It crashes during logging into my account. 😦 I love the new core programs that run under the hood because it did provide a faster rendering experience in video. I was averaging 5 hrs on an 1.5 hr video (HD mind you). Now it’s bumped down to 7.5 hrs for the same exact video file. The only difference is it didn’t drop the frame-rates! So even though it takes longer to render, at least it works. My only prayer is that Apple will step up the game on Leopard and make it a lot more useful. Until then I’m using Tiger. Oh and how is Leopard treating you all? Have you had a pleasant experience?
Liar Game
•March 17, 2008 • Leave a Commentwow, you know I’ve found probably the best television show I have ever seen. It has truly blown my mind with the creativity and especially with the way the show was shot. It is a Japanese drama called “Liar Game”. It is offered on the web via various websites but if you would like to download it check out http://silentregrets.com After you watch this drama, if your into thrillers and suspense and don’t mind reading subtitles I gaurantee this is a must have for your DVD collection. I watched half on the web and the other on my Apple TV. I’ve enjoyed it so much I’ll definitely be purchasing this series on Amazon! The show is 11 episodes long but the final episode is 3 hrs long.
Ok so the show consists of an organization luring people in to play this “Liar Game”. Once you’ve joined there is no way out unless you win. If you loose you owe the organization an outrageous debt. The leaders of this organization are trying to discover the world’s best liars. But Ms. Kanzaki Nao seems to burst their bubble. This girl is “too stupidly honest for her own good”. Ms. Nao is so honest and pure that she easily falls for anything from anyone. Well after she is conned into joining this game she needs the help from an expert swindler to win debt free. **That’s all I’m going to tell you!!!** lol this is a must see
